From Datafedwiki
Back to DataFed Development Events
1. Ability to spread the catalog into multiple places. Pull data from multiple points. (Grocery shop analogy - close to home delivery system - has the "staples"
- Staple: Principal raw material or commodity (i.e. flour, rice, corn) in steady demand.
Analogy:
- Coke machines in building because drinks are in steady demand
- Car dealership - still commodity, but you don't need as many. Car dealerships cluster together. Use of multi-channels (radio, TV, newspaper)
2. Ability to feed info into system
Analogy:
- Pre-Home Depot - Many pieces for one home project distributed (hardware store, paint store, ...) - not so many things prefabricated needed carpenter.
- Home Depot - semi-processed (pre-fabricated), user-finished
Value network -
Facilitate, combine early part of the value chain, which will:
- Improve qualtity of indoemation
- save resources , no need to redo
- Improve quality
- leave more time to the experience analysts to to anlyze
- lower the entry threshold, i.e enrich and democratize analysis
