[edit] Method For Tagging Pages From Google Scholar Onto Del.icio.us
[edit] 1. Search Articles for Atmospheric Dust
Go to google scholar and click on "advanced search." For keywords, use "aerosol" and "dust." In the words to exclude section, type in "mars, martian." Click OK and look at the results.
[edit] 2. Select Articles by Inspection
Choose which of the resulting sites to tag onto del.icio.us/rhusar.
key words and concepts to look for:
- Aerosol studies, especially those done in specific countries (example: The Asian Dust Storm of 1998)
- Anything having to do with geological studies about the atmosphere or dust patterns (example: Dust in the Stratosphere)
key words and concepts to avoid:
- Anything about body parts (example: Harmful Aerosols Found in Human Lungs)
- Anything about roads (example: Aerosols Emitted From Driving)
- Anything about household items (example: Dust Found in Vacuum Cleaners)
- If you start to see a pattern of sites that are not useful, you should list words like "vacuum cleaner" in the advanced search as other words to avoid.
[edit] 3. Tag Selected Articles
For each result, there is usually more than one article; click on "see all articles" and tag the page that lists all of them. Tag the useful sites into del.icio.us/rhusar with the tags "aerosolNet" and "dust." If there is only one article for each result, just click on the link and tag that page.
[edit] 4. Tag Specifics
Once you have tagged all of the useful sites, go to del.icio.us/rhusar, type in keywords "aerosolNet" and "dust," and look at the list. Go through each of the articles and read the abstract to find where the study took place and when it took place.
- For location, tag sites with geo:.... (example: if the study was done in China, create tags geo:Asia and geo:China)
Here is a list of previous tags: geo:Africa, geo:Amazon, geo:Antarctica, geo:Arctic, geo:Asia, geo:AtlanticOcean, geo:Australia, geo:BodéléDepression, geo:Caribbean, geo:China, geo:Europe, geo:Greenland, geo:GulfofGuinea, geo:Hawaii, geo:India, geo:IndianOcean, geo:Israel, geo:Japan, geo:Kalmykia, geo:Korea, geo:Mediterranean, geo:NewZealand, geo:NorthAmerica, geo:NorthAtlantic, geo:NorthernHemisphere, geo:PacificOcean, geo:Pakistan, geo:Sahara, geo:SaudiArabia, geo:SouthAmerica, geo:Tadzhikistan, geo:Tibet
- For time, tag sites with startdate:... and enddate:.... If the study was done in one year, use the tag date:... (example: if the study was done from 1987-1989 use tags startdate:1987 and enddate:1989)
