Observing the services that are provided by people-to-people interaction.

Types of services provided on a telecon:

  • Reports/updates on events and projects
  • Interative "idea bouncing"
  • Feedback - i.e. technology or management issues
  • Make connections

Telecons could be supplemented with pre- and during-call support.

  • Old way:
    • George Percivall sends OGC ppts out to people on the agenda to create a ppt that is sent out to those on the call and then post-call the ppt. is available for historical record

  • More participatory approach:
    • Agenda preparation could be done by the community beforehand on the wiki
    • Additional content to enhance the reports (ppt slides/links/wiki pages etc) could be added before the call
    • During the call the essence of the discussion is captured on this agenda page, enhanced with links, but simple enough that you don't have to go back to it post-call. This gives a record of the call and uses time more efficiently.

AIP preparation provided an opportunity to see other services:

  • Gathering information
  • Making connections between groups, agencies, etc.
  • Facilitate connecting people to humanware
  • Synthesize gathered information
  • Present information
  • Provide background about other pilots

Data Summit services
