Starting point for what we want the KMZ packages to look like: GASmoke.kmz

Now, a KMZ will be made using the Google Earth service that has been developed to see how we can automate it and if any changes should occur for the automation process:

Datasets.kmz is a compilation of datasets made by using the GE web service. The changes that were made to organize the layers were the initial visibility and a folder to place the layers in.

Features to think about for the user's ability to browse datasets and for the interface:

  • Having a network link available so the user can add datasets and change settings without having to generate a completely new KMZ (this may not be worth it considering the resources needed to do this)
  • Organizing the "pre-packaged" datasets further, so the users know the domain of the datasets

Also, a template interface will be constructed to get a general layout of what the console/KML link will look like:

An Interface Template has been made based off of the View Google Earth interface that we have been using. The interface was built to maintain the simplicity of the original interface and include the use of the user consoles.

Use this to record your results..on consoles, KML

A problem with using a web service to aggregate the datasets is the possibility of the service failing and losing all of the results. The KMZ maker for one dataset has a tendency to be slow when a month's worth of data is being collected, so collecting multiple datasets would be even slower and would possibly end in the KMZ not being made.
