(What conference?? Link to the Cong, agenda??, RBH)

Key take home points to be developed later:

  • Carbon footprint analysis:
    • Another class at Macalester College as did class project with ghg inventory
    • Electricity carbon factor (carbon/kw-hr) is best to use the e-grid # which incorporates a region and better incorporates how power is actually delivered than to use just the state #. We should go back to this since we just changed a #.
    • New version of clean air-cool planet has built in projections based on changes in activities - should look into
    • Issues with transportation - Survey suggested, maybe collab with a research methods/statistics class. American Univ. surveyed in the parking lot to get an idea of who the daily pass commuters were - mostly students, mostly less than 5 miles.
    • tie the project to anthropology/sociology
  • Sustainability Minor - interdisciplinary sustainability curriculum
    • Univ. Of Minnesota brought faculty across disciplines together and created a sustainability minor which is two team taught required classes and electives from the classes that these profs teach.
    • They funded summer faculty months of a few professors to develop the curriculum
    • They met and had common readings in order to get on the same page/same language etc.
    • This program has been successful
  • Barbara Widhalm
