[edit] Architecture Implementation Pilot Background
The 2007-2009 GEOSS Work Plan presented to Plenary contains 72 Tasks. This tasks are organized in to 5 streams of GEOSS Implementation:
- Establish the basic arrangements and policies to build the system of systems.
- Contribute new components and improve existing components of GEOSS.
- Produce coordinated observation methodologies.
- Make new data sets available.
- Engage with communities (support modelling workshops, user requirements, etc.) to improve / enhance / increase use of Earth observations.
One of the tasks in Stream 1 is AR-07-02 Interface Implentation for GEOSS. This Pilot is part of GEO task AR-07-02.

Lead incorporation of contributed components consistent with the GEOSS Architecture:
- using a GEOSS Web Portal and a GEOSS Clearinghouse search facility
- to access services through GEOSS Interoperability Arrangements
- support GEOSS Societal Benefit Areas
CFP seeks collaborative participation in 3 areas:
- Contribute existing services, e.g, portals, catalogs and other services
- Both services hosted by participants and/or solutions to be hosted by other organizations
- Develop societal benefit scenarios to guide development and demonstration of pilot services.
- Refine architecture; potential GEOSS Interoperability Arrangements
